This place was hopping when I went. I'm not sure what all of the fuss was over. Our Pizza was a crust with butter on it and a pool of goo in the middle resembling cheese. People I talk to say it's heavy and I'd have to agree. When that goo entered my stomach I was regretting it for sure. Lots of nice beers on tap though and a cool patio. I wish the food didn't make me feel so bad :)
Pros: Fun Place
Cons: Food

Very cool, theres a ton of things I can order here, being a vegetarian. I really love the Tempeh subs, and the mega veggie pizzas. A cool tip for if you are eatin out on a buget is to order the hummus w/ pita wedges with a side of sprouts, tomatoes, banana peppers and onions. That way u can make lil veggie pita sandwiches! Fun! Also, thru Raleigh Take Out dot Com, u can order from them to be DELIVERED right to your house, and avoid the wait! Super awesome!
Pros: Get it DELIVERED!
Cons: Sometimes a lil pricey!

This place has some of the best pizza you will find in Raleigh.. I love the fresh ingrediants and the crust is to die for. My friends and I always look foward to our regularly scheduled trip to Mellow Mushroom. The staff always seems friendly and accomodating. They are really great for groups as we go as a large group as well as a good family atmosphere. You have a choice to sit inside.. on a covered patio, or on a open canopy patio as traffic drives by.
Pros: food, service, promptness, quality
Cons: beer prices, parking

The one good thing I can say about the Mellow Mushroom is that the atmosphere is terrific. The outdoor patio on Peace Street is prime for people-watching. I just wish the food was as good. The crust is bland and flavorless and the selection of pizzas is that same as you would find in any pizza joint. The worst part of the experience was the service. Our waitress was more concerned with chatting with friends than to bother getting our drinks and then brought us the wrong pizza and gave ours away, so we had to wait for another pizza! If the food was better, this might have been overlooked as a waitress having a bad day, but coupled with disappointing food, it did not inspire a return visit.
Pros: Great seating
Cons: bland food, bad service

Since my office is down the street we have been frequent customers of the Raleigh location since they opened and always had a great experience. They have the best patio and pizza in Raleigh. The pizza is old school, hand tossed and cooked on a stone plus they have a lot of ingredients to choose from. I am surprised with the few bad reviews since we go there so often and never had a problem. The place is always packed so I am sure someone may not get the service they expect, but they must be doing something right.
Pros: Pizza, patio, beer selection
Cons: usually a wait

I'm not sure what is up with all of the bad reviews saying that the service is bad. I've been to this location MANY times and have never had bad service. The pizza has always been outstanding, the drink refills aplenty, and the waitress we had last time even went out of her way to make sure the right football game was on while we were there. (Redskins, that is.) I love the Magic Mystery Tour pizza! Their pretzels also rock! I would definitely recommend Mellow Mushroom to anyone! One word: YUM!
Pros: Pizza, pretzels, outdoor atmosphere
Cons: They don't deliver

I guess my initial description sums it up. We went once because we thought that it must be good, with so many people eating outside. It took about 45 minutes to get a table for 2. Then, another 20 for a waitress to show up; even though we'd waited a long time, she just didn't have it in her to greet us or be polite. When we got our pitcher of (very expensive) beer, it was lukewarm. Then, another 50 minutes for the pizza...without....you guessed it (napkins). When we realized that she wasn't coming back to ask us how things were, one of us went up to the manager to ask for napkins; no apologies there; he gave us a withering look, as if to say, "You didn't really expect us to go out of our ways for you, did you?" He didn't have any reasons for our waits or the warm beer. Furthermore, the pizza was very undercooked. A truly bad experience, all around. As a former waitress, I would be so embarrased to work there or have any association with that place. I've heard that some of the other chains of MM were good but there's no way I'd drive out-of-town to chance my money, time, and food, on a place which so obviously doesn't care what its' patrons think!
Pros: none at all
Cons: food, service, management, cleanliness, long waits for everything, hot beer

Terible SERVICE!!!! I brought my family from out of town here and let me tell you, NEVER AGAIN!! Server never came, had to go up to the group of servers (not doing anything but standing around talking) and inform them that we had been sitting unhelped for 20 minutes, come to find they forgot to write our table down. The food took forever!!!! WE will not be returning. I don't recommend! Food isn't good, tastes cheap.
Pros: N/A
Cons: Service is terrible, parking lot way to small, we had to park way down the street !!!

Nice sit down pizza place on Glenwood. Menu items offer tofu, tempeh and soy cheese on the pizza as well as subs. Very vegetarian friendly.
Pros: Vegetarian/Vegan Options

If I could go lower than one star I would. The M.M. in Raleigh is NOT the place for Groups of any size! A MANAGER was even rude to me when I tried to make a Group reservation! The food was OK, but not speedy. Oh, and as I recall, they left off a topping (MUSHROOMS!) and when I mentioned it, they brought a little plastic container with mushrooms to me! I complained about my experience booking the room with the manager (Didn't even bother about the rest.) and although another manager responded politely, he still stuck up for the first Manager's rude behavior. Nice to see they stick up for each other, but it doen't help solve the problem that someone bringing in customers was treated rudely! I would not have gone back but a group had a meeting there. They sat part of the group in the private dining room (And believe me, I use that term rather loosely here! It's a sort of walkway for servers to the main dining area.) and didn't tell the rest of the group that was waiting at the bar! Finally we all got seated together. OK service, not speedy. Both times pizza ok. Parking sort of difficult, but that's common downtown. This is a pretty good location for a restuarant. I'd be willing to try other Mellow Mushroom's, but the management's attitude at this one has turned me off this location. At least keep letting the manager(s) know of bad experiences so MAYBE they'll run it in a more professional manner.
Cons: RUDE manger, hard to book a group, parking
