Editorial Review for Triangle Town Center – by Neha Shah
In Short
Calling it a "mall" is an understatement. The stores at Triangle Town Center cater to trendy shoppers, but the center's lush setting reflects the Triangle region. Aside from the shops, you'll find four stages primed for live performances. Parents will appreciate Curiosity Creek, a play area created for kids. The mall's indoor and outdoor shopping areas intertwine the best of both worlds; if you need a break from the crowds inside, you can relax by the man-made river.

I can't see how this could be referred to as an upscale mall. An inordinate number of the restaurants (virtually all chains) in the extended "street like" section are empty or constantly going out of business. The area is usually near empty of pedestrians, shoppers or even visitors. The mall itself is nothing more than average. There's a Sears and a Macy's and lots of typical mall stores like a small Gap and a Banana Republic and a Barnes & Nobles. Raleigh itself is not a city where one finds too many unique shops or an real urban setting. The concept of shopping is limited to going to the mall so there aren't really all that many choices here. But it's a mall not some special community center as suggested. The Triangle Town Community Center of mini malls that surround the Triangle Town Mall include a Coldstone Creamery set beside a man made pond with fountains where ducks swim amidst a great deal of trash floating in he water. On a hot summer evening visitors eating their ice cream are frequently approached by proselytizers who are called to share the word. There too, there are empty businesses. The recent riot involving 300 people in the mall and the subsequent stabbing of a teen has resulted in a teen curfew to increase safety for shoppers.
Pros: clean bathrooms and enough to meet the needs of the shoppers
Cons: The faux city street and restaurants are typically empty and there's a decadent feeling.

I just moved to Raleigh. Triangle Town Center Mall is the closest mall to where I live, but I doubt I'll be visiting it very often. For starters, this mall is definitely not "upscale." There isn't a Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, or any of the basic stores you'd find in an upscale mall. Yes, there is a Saks and a Macy's, but both are very disappointing. The clothing in Macy's was way below expectations -- I can usually count on the Inc. line to be trendy for a 30-40 something professional woman, but this particular store didn't have anything! The mall is sprawling, but it's a whole lot of nothing special. I haven't lived here long enough to check out the other malls, but I am 99.9% certain that any of them beat this one.
Pros: Convenient to those who live nearby
Cons: Not enough upscale or unique stores
