  • Homemade Sauces & Pastas

We look forward to serving you at Piccola Italia Pizza & Restaurant. Family owned and operated since 1982, we have been offering traditional Italian dishes and New York style pizzas. All of our sauces, soups and pizza dough are made from scratch and are the personal recipes of owner Frank Amato, who is here every day to ensure the highest quality of our food. We invite you to come in and enjoy our cozy dining area, whether it is for business, friends and family, or a romantic dining experience. All of the items on our menu are available for take-out. Our family takes great pleasure and satisfaction to see customers enjoy what we have worked so hard to create.

Editorial Review for Piccola Italia – by Dana Terebelski

In Short
This is one of those comfortable Italian neighborhood joints where the owner will greet you with a cheerful "Ciao!" whether he knows you or not. The dining room is a red-hued, softly lit, casual space where diners enjoy heaping bowls of spaghetti. Portions are generous and prices hover around $7 for a pasta dish and $10 for a specialty like musselsover pasta.

Insider Tips

What To Drink

Carafes of wine are hard to come by in the Triangle, but here you can order a half carafe of the house red or white for $8.50. The cappucino is $2.50 a pop, so you may consider a cup of the regular brew at 75 cents.

I found the pizza outstanding (wide variety of toppings, thin & crispy crust), the pasta sauce rich & flavorful, the wine list impeccable, and the service faster than a Trevor Ferguson fast-break.

Honestly, I thought this place had the worst pizza I have ever had. The service was bad, the crust was burnt, the toppings were not even melted into the pizza. Also, there was little to no sauce on my pizza. When I commented as such to my server, it was met with a look of disgust that my order was going to have to be corrected. Never again. I would rather eat fecal matter than ever enter this establishment again.

Pros: ambience

Cons: food
