Editorial Review for Eno River State Park – by Zach Hanner
In Short
The short trails are foot-access only, so hikers have this path to themselves--no bikes or horses allowed. Learn about the wild around you at educational sessions with names like "Turtle Talk" and "Cold-Blooded Critters." If the water level is up, take a canoe on the rapids or reel in some of the Roanoke bass. Just don't jump in--swimming isn't allowed--picnicking on the banks is, though, so bring your grill.

The Eno has the best hiking trails in the Raleigh/Durham area due to the pleasure in hiking along the river, including lots of rugged, rocky trails along the river. It is especially great fun in the Spring for wildflowers and the fall for the fall foilage. Eno is not crowded on the trails once you get some distance away from the start.
Pros: Wildflowers, Beautiful small river, Not crowded
Cons: Distance from Raleigh
